Asbestos project monitoring and final clearance inspections
Asbestos project monitoring must be provided by a Massachusetts licensed asbestos project monitor. Project monitors provide onsite management of asbestos abatement projects by an independent third party.
Project monitors may be present the full time for the duration of the project to ensure that project specifications are met, questions are being answered in real time, and air samples are collected in adjacent samples to assess how well the work area controls are functioning.Project monitors may also provide part time services where they spot check the progress and compliance of an asbestos abatement job.
Final visual inspections and air clearance are required for every asbestos abatement job in Massachusetts. This is when the project monitor inspects completed asbestos abatement jobs and collects clearance air sampis as needed prior to the asbestos
Abatement contractor being allowed to remove their engineering controls and leave the site. This important task must be completed by a Massachusetts licensed project monitor who may NOT be an employee of the asbestos abatement contractor.
